About the Journal
Scientific Experiences for Community Development (SECD) is an international, peer-reviewed, and open-access scholarly journal dedicated to advancing knowledge and practice in science-based community development. The journal provides an interdisciplinary platform for researchers, academics, practitioners, and community development professionals to publish and exchange real-world experiences in applying scientific knowledge, technology, and innovation to address community challenges.
The concept of Scientific Experiences represents evidence-based experiences derived from the translation and implementation of scientific knowledge in real community settings. SECD goes beyond the conventional description of community activities by emphasizing systematic problem identification, scientifically informed intervention design, real-world implementation, measurable outcomes, critical reflection, and transferable lessons. Through this approach, community-based initiatives are examined as scholarly experiences that can generate knowledge and inform similar interventions in different contexts.
Community Development is understood as a broad and inclusive process aimed at strengthening community capacity, improving well-being, enhancing resilience, and promoting sustainable development. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary contributions addressing social, technological, economic, environmental, educational, and health-related challenges faced by communities in diverse geographical and socioeconomic contexts.
SECD particularly encourages manuscripts that demonstrate a clear connection between scientific knowledge and community action. Studies should explain the community challenge being addressed, establish the scientific or evidence-based rationale for the intervention, describe the implementation process, evaluate outcomes or impact, and critically discuss lessons learned from the experience. The journal also values the transferability of knowledge by encouraging authors to identify insights, strategies, and implementation experiences that may inform community development practices beyond the original study setting.
Through the integration of science, action, experience, and community impact, Scientific Experiences for Community Development seeks to strengthen the translation of scientific knowledge into meaningful and sustainable solutions for communities.
